Our Services

Boarding

Animal Center West Omaha is proud to offer pet boarding! Our clean, climate-controlled kennel is the perfect place to leave your pet next time you go out of town. Additionally, our highly trained staff is readily available if any medical concerns were to arise during your pet’s stay. Our boarders receive one on one attention, the option to socialize and a comfortable space of their own to retreat and rest.

If your pet has a particular diet, feel free to bring their food from home and we’ll be happy to give it to them. We’ll also give your pet any treats or toys that you bring to make them feel at home. Animal Center West Omaha will administer any medication that your pet requires. We believe their health is a top priority.

Dog Boarding

Please ensure that your dog is up to date on their vaccinations prior to boarding: Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper and Leptospirosis.

Cat Boarding

Your feline friend will be happy and relaxed in our cat condo area. Bedding is provided, but to make their stay more comfortable, feel free to bring bedding from home. Please ensure that your cat is up to date on their distemper and rabies vaccinations prior to boarding.

Dentistry

Dental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall wellbeing. At Animal Center West Omaha we recommend clients have their pet’s teeth examined at least once a year to detect early warning signs of periodontal disease. Common warning signs of deteriorating oral health include:

  • Bad breath
  • Broken or loose teeth
  • Extra teeth
  • Teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar
  • Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
  • Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
  • Pain in or around the mouth
  • Bleeding from the mouth
  • Swelling in the areas surrounding the mouth

Often times, dental disease occurs below the gumline and is difficult to see but can be very painful to your pet. Additionally, periodontal disease can cause other health problems including kidney, liver and heart muscle changes. During your pet’s dental exam, we will conduct a thorough assessment and if a cause for concern is identified, we will recommend an action plan to address the issue.

Vaccines and Parasite Prevention

Vaccinations and parasite prevention are essential parts of your pet’s health care plan. At Animal Center West Omaha, we create a personalized plan to meet the exact needs of your dog or cat.

Vaccinations are effective in preventing future disease and the costly treatments for these diseases. Additionally, animals are susceptible to a variety of parasites that can be easily avoided with parasite preventative. Many pet parasites can infect people in addition to pets, which means parasite prevention is important for the health of your family as well.

Wellness Exam

Routine wellness exams are an essential component of preventive medicine. The goal of wellness exams is to find and treat diseases before they become serious or painful. Early detection is key to avoiding costly treatments and addressing the matter quickly.

During your pet’s wellness exam, our staff will perform a thorough evaluation of your pet’s physical and internal health. During your appointment we will assess:

  • Overall Body Condition
  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Nose
  • Mouth
  • Throat
  • Heart and Lungs
  • Abdominal Organs
  • Musculoskeletal System
  • Neurologic System
  • Urogenital System
  • Lymph Nodes
  • Skin/Coat

If any areas of concern are identified during your pet’s exam, we will develop a treatment plan together. Routine bloodwork and fecal testing are highly recommended for us to detect internal parasites or underlying issues that we cannot detect during a physical exam.
